Assistant Accountant - 9 month FTC

Cherry Professional are currently working on a position offering a 9-month maternity cover role for an exciting multi-site business based in Nottingham.

This AssistantAccountant job reports into the Finance Management team and is an opportunity to contribute towards the production of the monthly management accounts and provide accounting support to the business. Join the team currently in the running for ‘East Midlands Finance Team of the Year’.

The role provides the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the accounts production to ensure all elements are completed within the time available and deadlines are met. The role also provides the opportunity to continue to develop an efficient reporting process.

• Overseeing two subsidiaries within the group structure
• Balance sheet reconciliations including accruals, bank accounts and client accounts
• VAT return review and submission
• Additional month end duties specific to the subsidiaries and wider group
• Department accounting responsibility within the main John Pye Auction business such as balance sheet reconciliation and management accounts commentary.
• Nominal and department costing reviews
• Assisting with annual external audit preparation
• Forecasting and data analysis work
• Any ad hoc project work for the Finance team

You will ideally possess AAT qualification, although this isn’t absolutely necessary if you can demonstrate the right experience and personality. Attention to detail and organisation is vital. You will be proactive in your approach to work with the ability to identify issues and drive actions quickly. A strong team player ethic is important, as well as a strong background with computer and accounting packages including Sage 50 ,Xero and Excel.
