Assistant Accountant (Maternity Cover – 9-Month Fixed Term Contract)
Location: Nottingham NG7
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Fixed Term Contract, On-site 3 days a week, 2 days wfh after training
Hours: Monday to Friday

About the Role
I am seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join this finance team on a 9-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a supportive and fast-paced finance function.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Full month-end responsibilities for two subsidiaries
• Preparing and analysing profit and loss statements
• Performing accurate bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting forecasting and budgeting processes
• Reviewing and submitting VAT returns
• Preparing audit documentation and supporting year-end processes
• Reviewing departmental costings and supporting internal reporting
• Assisting with ad hoc financial projects as required
• Working collaboratively with the wider finance team

What We’re Looking For

• AAT qualified or qualified by experience
• Previous experience in a similar finance or assistant accountant role
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Confident in using Excel and accounting software (Sage 50 is an advantage)
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise work effectively
• A team player with a proactive and adaptable attitude
