Deputy Assistant Director of Human Resources

Are you ready to lead and inspire in a dynamic public sector environment? An iconic organisation based in central London is seeking a Deputy Assistant Director of Human Resources for a 6-month contract.

Location: Walking distance from Southwark and London Bridge station

Pay: £800 per day via Umbrella (Inside of IR35)

About the Role: As the Deputy Assistant Director of HR, you will spearhead a high-quality, effective, and responsive HR and organisational development function. You will take the lead on all HR issues, including Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement robust HR strategies, plans, and policies to ensure the long-term growth and development of the organisation.
  • Talent Management: Ensure the recruitment, retention, and motivation of top-tier, diverse staff.
  • Advisory Role: Provide expert advice and guidance to the Assistant Director of HR and senior managers on HR management and organisational development.
  • Cultural Development: Foster a cohesive and agile performance-based culture, enhancing the organisation’s approach to talent management and driving effective leadership of organisational change.
  • ED&I Initiatives: Develop and implement comprehensive equalities, diversity, and inclusion policies.
  • External Representation: Represent the organisation on HR issues with external bodies, ensuring maximum benefit through full participation and exchange of ideas.
  • Corporate Contribution: Play a key role in corporate management, contributing significantly to people management issues and participating in cross-departmental and cross-organisational groups and task teams.

Person Specification:

  • CIPD Membership: Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) or equivalent knowledge gained through extensive strategic HR experience.
  • Proven Leadership: A successful track record of leading an HR and OD function at a senior level in a high-profile, complex organisation.
  • Political Acumen: Ability to operate effectively in a political environment and quickly gain credibility with senior stakeholders.
  • Public Sector Experience: Strong background in the public sector is desirable.
  • Engagement Programmes: Proven experience in developing and delivering staff engagement and organisational development programmes to enhance employee engagement.
  • Team Management: Successful track record in staff management, with the ability to motivate a team to achieve high performance, especially in a changing environment.
  • ED&I Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading initiatives to improve equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
