Grade H, £30,060 - £32,654 per annum pro rat

Main Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant SENCO to join our supportive SEND team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education to play a key role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), working closely with the SENDCo to ensure every student thrives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the SENDCo in fulfilling the school’s statutory SEN duties, including smooth transition arrangements for students with SEN.
  • Deliver targeted literacy and numeracy interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Contribute to the assess, plan, do, review cycle, including provision mapping and tracking intervention outcomes.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering inclusive lessons that promote student progress.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing feedback and reports to staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour and student independence in line with school policies.
  • Plan and deliver interventions to support specific areas of need and raise literacy standards across the curriculum.
  • Manage educational testing and exam access arrangements in collaboration with the Examinations Officer and SENDCo.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term strategies to raise attainment for students with SEN.
  • Develop and implement classroom support plans.
  • Support the care and welfare of SEND students.
  • Maintain effective communication with staff, students, parents/carers, and external agencies.
  • Assist in identifying students for the SEND register.
  • Line manage and support LSAs delivering intervention programmes.
  • Conduct performance management for selected LSAs and support their professional development.
