As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils with ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) access learning, manage routines, and develop social and communication skills in a nurturing, structured environment. You'll work closely with class teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a consistent and supportive experience for the students.

The ideal Autism Teaching Assistant will:

• Have experience supporting children or young people with autism or complex learning needs
• Be calm, patient, and adaptable to individual student requirements
• Use visual supports, routines, and sensory strategies effectively
• Be confident using PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems (desirable but not essential)
• Genuinely care about helping pupils overcome barriers and celebrate every achievement

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with autism
• Supporting the delivery of tailored learning activities
• Assisting with communication strategies and sensory regulation
• Encouraging independence and social development
• Working collaboratively with the SEN team to implement individual education plans (IEPs)
