Hunter AHP have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with specialist experience in Haematology to join a reputable NHS hospital based in Portsmouth. This is an excellent role for someone looking to advance their skills in a modern, well-equipped laboratory setting while contributing to a busy and dynamic Haematology department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform a range of diagnostic tests in haematology including full blood counts, blood film morphology, and coagulation testing

• Operate automated haematology analysers (e.g., Sysmex, Beckman Coulter, or Siemens platforms)

• Participate in internal and external quality assurance procedures

• Interpret results and escalate abnormal findings to clinical teams

• Maintain accurate documentation in line with laboratory SOPs and UKAS/ISO 15189 standards

Essential Requirements:

• HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist

• Minimum of 1 year UK experience in a Haematology laboratory

• Competency in using automated haematology analysers and manual differentials

• Strong knowledge of quality control and assurance procedures

Desirable:

• Previous NHS experience

• Experience with LIMS systems (e.g., WinPath, LabCentre)
