Job Description - Band 6 Pharmacist

Job Title: Band 6 Pharmacist – Diagnostics, Cancer and Buckland Care Group
Location: Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate, Kent
Pay Rate: £26 per hour (LTD); PAYE options available
Contract Length: 6 Months
Start Date: ASAP
Job Type: Full-Time, Locum Contract Job Description:
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Pharmacist to join the Diagnostics, Cancer and Buckland Care Group at Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care across specialist services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services to designated wards and departments within the Diagnostics and Cancer Care pathways.
  • Conduct medicines reconciliation and provide expert advice on the safe, effective, and economic use of medicines.
  • Support prescribing decisions in collaboration with medical and nursing staff.
  • Participate in clinical audits, medication reviews, and formulary development.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national guidelines and protocols.
  • Contribute to patient safety initiatives and the development of pharmaceutical care plans.
Requirements:
  • GPhC registered Pharmacist.
  • Previous NHS hospital experience (ideally at Band 6 level or equivalent).
  • Strong clinical knowledge, particularly in oncology, diagnostics, or complex care settings.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Desirable:
  • Experience in oncology or cancer services is advantageous but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of EPMA and other NHS prescribing systems.
Additional Information:
  • This role offers flexible payment options including LTD and PAYE.
  • 6-month initial contract with potential for extension based on service need.
  • Full support provided throughout placement, including compliance assistance and prompt payment.
