We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEN school in Haringey, to provide essential support for a student who has become disregulated. This role is ideal for a passionate individual with experience in managing challenging behaviour and supporting children with special educational needs (SEN).
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will be responsible for providing individual support to the student, helping them regulate their emotions and behaviours while also fostering their academic and social development. The successful candidate will be working closely with the school's multidisciplinary team, including teachers, teaching assistants, and therapists, to ensure the best outcomes for the student.
The Role: - Provide tailored one-to-one support for a student who is experiencing challenges with emotional regulation and behaviour.
- Use de-escalation techniques to help the student regain calm and re-engage with their learning and social interactions.
- Work with the student to implement strategies that support their emotional, social, and academic development.
- Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, and other professionals to create and maintain an effective behaviour management plan.
- Help the student build coping strategies, social skills, and emotional resilience.
- Observe and document the student's progress, providing regular feedback and updates to the relevant staff members.
- Promote a safe and positive learning environment, ensuring that the student feels supported and understood.
- Assist in the delivery of personalised interventions to support the student's specific needs, encouraging them to re-engage with classroom activities.
Who We're Looking For: - Experience working with children who have special educational needs, particularly those with behavioural challenges.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with a clear understanding of behaviour management strategies.
- Experience in using de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviour in a sensitive and supportive way.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build a trusting relationship with students.
- A proactive, flexible attitude with a genuine commitment to supporting the emotional well-being of students.
- Previous experience working in a school or care setting with children with SEN is highly desirable.
- A passion for helping children overcome challenges and develop the skills they need to thrive academically and socially.
