Job Description - Behaviour Mentor

Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School - Barking and Dagenham

Long Term Futures are working with a large and dynamic secondary school with a thriving sixth form in Barking and Dagenham to appoint a Behaviour Mentor from September 2025.


This is a high-impact role, offering the opportunity to take an active lead in promoting positive behaviour across the school and supporting students in reaching both their academic and personal potential.

Key Responsibilities:
* Take an active role in managing and improving student behaviour across all year groups
* Provide targeted 1:1 and small group mentoring for students with behaviour concerns or SEMH needs
* Check in on academic progress and work with staff to ensure students remain on track
* Support teachers during lessons to help maintain focus and reduce disruptions
* Work closely with pastoral leaders, heads of year, and the SEN team to coordinate support strategies
* Contribute to behaviour reports, pastoral plans and review meetings

Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience supporting secondary students in a behaviour or pastoral role
* A confident, calm and proactive approach to managing challenging situations
* Strong understanding of behaviour for learning strategies and student support
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with young people and staff
* A background in youth work, education, or mentoring is highly desirable

Location and Transport - Barking and Dagenham
* Accessible via Chadwell Heath and Becontree stations
* Local bus routes: 62, 173, 368, EL2
* On-site staff parking available
