Business Analyst - Payments Testing (Banking / Financial Services)

This is a key role in a business-critical transformation programme aimed at enhancing testing capabilities and processes across payments-related systems. You'll play a hands-on part in driving process improvement, building robust testing frameworks, and ensuring that IT changes in banking payments are implemented efficiently, accurately, and compliantly.

• Salary: Day rate £474-£676 umbrella
• Location: The City
• Hybrid working 2/3 days per week office based

The Main Duties:

• Conduct a full end-to-end analysis of current testing processes for payments systems-identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Work with business and IT stakeholders to gather, document, and map testing and process requirements for payment systems.
• Collaborate with QA teams to design test plans, test cases, and ensure traceability from requirements through to delivery.
• Analyse data and test results to provide actionable insights that support robust and error-free delivery of payment solutions.
• Produce high-quality documentation including process maps, business requirements, and user guides.
• Act as the bridge between business and technology teams, ensuring alignment, understanding and quality assurance across projects.
• Ensure solutions align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Skills/Experience
Essential:

• 3-5 years' experience as a Business Analyst, including at least 2 years of hands-on testing experience in the banking payments space.
• Solid understanding of payment systems, banking IT change cycles, and regulatory environments.
• Expertise in testing tools, methodologies, and process mapping techniques.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills - you can make sense of complexity and communicate clearly across all levels.
• High attention to detail and a natural drive for continuous improvement.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, change-driven environment.

Desirable:

• Relevant certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or ISTQB Certified Tester.
• Prior experience in financial services, banking, or payment processing organisations.
