Job Description - Business Support Officer

Job Advert: Business Support Officer (Housing)

Location: Observatory House, Slough
Contract Type: Agency Worker (Inside IR35)
Duration: 2 June 2025 - 31 October 2025
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm)
Pay Rate:£28 per hour
Application Deadline: Friday 16 May 2025, 5:00pm

About the Role:

Slough Borough Council is looking for a skilled and motivated Business Support Officer to join the Housing team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to vital housing services that support the residents of Slough.

You will provide efficient administrative and business support to the Housing department, ensuring processes run smoothly and customers receive a high standard of service. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to public service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive administrative support to the Housing team

  • Respond to enquiries from residents and colleagues via phone, email, and face-to-face

  • Maintain accurate records and update housing databases

  • Support preparation of reports, documentation, and correspondence

  • Organise meetings, appointments, and schedules for housing staff

  • Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality protocols

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a business support or administrative role, preferably within housing or a local authority

  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other administrative systems

  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills

  • Strong communication and customer service abilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
