Job Description - Business Support Officer

Job Type: Full-time, Temporary. Hybrid working.

Location: City Hall, E16 1ZE

The Greater London Authority are looking to recruit a Business Support Officer to support their People function on a 6-month interim basis. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with senior leaders and contribute to significant projects within the organisation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work closely with Senior Leaders to support Board commitments, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and assisting with diary management.
  • Utilise strong analytical skills to assist the Data Analyst in generating comprehensive reports.
  • Participate in ongoing People Function projects as part of an efficient and in-demand team.
  • Assist with the management of the Unit’s finances, including raising purchase orders, addressing supplier queries, and supporting timely invoice payments.
  • Maintain the HR Mailbox, address incoming queries, and engage with other areas to find resolutions.
  • Support Employee Relations colleagues by taking detailed minutes during casework investigations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in administrative roles, preferably within a large organisation or government body.
  • Experience in handling confidential information and minute-taking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and with various stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and organise significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and macros).
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • HR knowledge is desirable but not essential.
