Job Description - Business Support Officer

Business Support Officer
  • Job Type: Temporary, Full-time
  • Location: Bradley Fold, Radcliffe, BL2 6RS
  • Duration: 6 months
  • Pay: £12.95 per hour
  • Working Hours: 9am till 5pm (Office Based)

Join Bury Council's Waste Management team as a Business Support Officer. This role is essential in supporting the day-to-day operations of our service, ranging from customer interactions to coordination with collection teams.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Retrieve and manipulate data from computerised databases, creating non-standard reports and correcting errors.
  • Produce and format presentations and documents using computerised packages.
  • Assist in developing and implementing new office and information systems.
  • Ensure consistency across various systems through cross-checking.
  • Analyse and validate service-specific information, enhancing communication and reporting for various purposes.
  • Coordinate business support for seminars and large events, including preparing agendas and monitoring event progress.
  • Manage budget information for projects and provide statistical and financial analysis.
  • Respond to complex queries and coordinate large events and group meetings.
  • Deputise for Team Leaders, managing and coordinating work tasks.
  • Handle formal minute/note-taking and coordinate information for regulatory requests.
  • Support corporate priorities and initiatives, including elections and inspections.
  • Coordinate project work and lead specific project streams to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as ordering goods, raising invoices, and managing travel arrangements.
  • Work collaboratively across departments, providing cover and support as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in business support or a similar administrative role.
  • Strong ability in data handling, report generation, and presentation creation.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Good knowledge of office and information systems.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively across teams and departments.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
