Job Description - CAMHS Practitioner

Mental Health Practitioner – CAMHS
Location: Weston-super-Mare (NHS)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
Rate: £27 Ltd / £21.71 PAYE (excluding holiday pay)

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Mental Health Practitioner to join a CAMHS team based within the NHS in Weston-super-Mare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic interventions.
  • Manage your own caseload from referral through to discharge.
  • Conduct specialist urgent assessments, including those related to deliberate self-harm.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, and their families to promote engagement in care planning and service evaluation.
  • Liaise and work jointly with professionals from other agencies.
  • Participate in joint work with other CAMHS specialists as agreed with the service manager.
  • Maintain effective communication with referrers and guide them to appropriate resources.
  • Attend CAMHS meetings and case discussions as required.
  • Work closely within a multi-disciplinary CAMHS team.
Essential Experience & Knowledge:

  • Significant experience working within a CAMHS team.
  • Proven delivery of evidence-based therapeutic interventions with children and adolescents.
  • Strong background in risk assessment and management, including working with suicidal individuals.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary team environments.
  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of child and adolescent development and mental health.
  • Familiarity with national and local guidelines for public sector services for children and families.
  • Understanding of safeguarding frameworks, including Child Protection and Child in Need.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act and Children Act.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional registration and standards of practice.
