Careers Advisor

Location: Plymouth
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £27,000 - £31,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Are you passionate about helping adults achieve their career goals? We are seeking a proactive and empathetic Careers Advisor to join a dynamic Functional Skills centre in Plymouth, supporting adult learners in developing their employability and progressing into further education, training, or employment.

• Provide 1:1 careers advice and guidance to adult learners studying Functional Skills (English, Maths, ICT)
• Support learners in identifying career pathways, training opportunities, and job prospects
• Assist with CV writing, job applications, interview preparation, and job search strategies
• Deliver group workshops and employability sessions tailored to adult learners
• Maintain accurate records of learner progress and outcomes
• Work collaboratively with tutors, support staff, and external agencies to ensure holistic learner support

• Level 4 or above qualification in Careers Guidance (e.g., Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development) - essential
• Experience working with adult learners or within an adult education setting
• Strong knowledge of local labour market trends and progression routes
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
• A supportive, non-judgmental approach with a genuine desire to help others succeed
