Job Description - Carpenter

Job Title: Carpenter
Type: Contract
Location: Wenvoe
Salary: £16.50 - £18.50
Hours: Full Time

BRC are working closely with a local authority in South Wales. This role involves carrying out a full range of carpentry and joinery work, including installation, repair, and maintenance of doors, windows, flooring, staircases, skirting boards, kitchen units, and other woodwork.

Duties:
  • Carry out a full range of carpentry and joinery work, including installation, repair, and maintenance of doors, windows, flooring, staircases, skirting boards, kitchen units, and other woodwork.
  • Undertake both planned maintenance and responsive repairs in residential and public buildings.
  • Ensure all works are completed to agreed quality standards, within timescales, and in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Work effectively on your own initiative and as part of a wider multi-trade maintenance team.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including materials used and time spent.
  • Communicate professionally with tenants, service users, and colleagues to minimise disruption and provide excellent customer service.
  • Use, maintain, and store tools and equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Follow Local Authority policies and procedures, including safeguarding, equality and diversity, and safe systems of work.

Requirements:
  • Desirable - Recognised qualification in Carpentry and Joinery (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a range of carpentry and joinery tasks, ideally within housing or property maintenance.
  • Good understanding of building regulations, health & safety standards, and safe working practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver high-quality work with attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing workload effectively
