Casual Centre Assistant

2\-3 Months contract with a local authority

Summary

• The Centre Assistant is crucial in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at Stonecroft Nursery. This role supports staff and children by performing domestic, cleaning, kitchen, and general childcare assistance duties. The position directly contributes to the welfare, safety, and daily operations of the nursery.
  

Responsibilities

• Vacuum carpets and clean floors, work surfaces, toys, furniture, and window shelves.
  


• Empty waste bins, mop spillages, and wash floors as needed.
  


• Clean toilets, basins, fixtures, potties, and maintain hygiene supplies.
  


• Clean sinks and maintain domestic equipment, reporting defects promptly.
  


• Check stock of cleaning materials and store equipment safely after use.
  


• Report any health and safety hazards to the Nursery Manager.
  

Essential Experience Required

• Experience working with children aged 0–5.
  


• Familiarity with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  


• Experience supporting children with special educational needs.
  


• Ability to work collaboratively with parents and professionals.
  

Essential Qualifications Required

• Recognised childcare or Early Years qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2).
  

Additional Information

• Working hours: 36 hours per week
  


• The role requires a DBS check.
