Chemist

Job Title: Chemist- Global Agrochemical Company

Contract: 6 months

Location: Huddersfield

Salary: £19.00 per hour

SRG are working with a global Agrochemical company that are seeking a Chemist to join their busy team. They are looking for a chemistry related graduate with some industrial experience.

Job Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute syntheses to develop efficient routes for target molecules, meeting project objectives for yield, purity, cost and sustainability as agreed with the +1 manager
• Identify critical process parameters, and optimize conditions through systematic experimentation and statistical design
• Collaborate with analytical chemistry, computational modelling, and process safety teams to characterize products, understand reaction kinetics, and assess process hazards as required.
• Document all experimental work comprehensively in electronic lab notebooks, prepare technical reports, and present findings to project teams
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements while handling hazardous materials and conducting chemical reactions

Essential Requirements:

• Master/PhD in chemistry or equivalent industrial experience in chemistry
• Demonstrated track record in developing novel synthetic routes
• Effective project management and organizational abilities (ability to plan own work >2 weeks)
• Strong problem-solving skills in organic synthesis challenges
• Strong foundation in chemistry, reaction mechanisms, and modern synthetic methodologies
• Understanding of process chemistry principles and scale-up considerations
• Awareness/knowledge of DoE (Design of Experiments) and statistical analysis
• Experience with chemical literature, database searching, and retrosynthetic analysis
