Job: Chief Financial Officer

Start Date: 1st September 2025 (or sooner to allow period of handover)

Interviews: ASAP (w/c 11/08)

Basis: 1 year interim (FTC)

The Chief Financial Officer will be the strategic leader of all financial activity within our client's Trust. This will include financial management to ensure the Trust operates highly effectively and within its budgetary constraints.

Finance

• To maintain strategic oversight of budget setting and financial controls. The CFO will oversee all financial transactions and accountancy matters, including procurement and clear audit systems, reporting to the CEO regularly and to the Audit and Finance Committee of the Trust Board as necessary
• Maintain effective systems of internal audit financial control as determined in the scheme of delegation and the Academies Financial Handbook.
• To ensure there are effective systems in place for the management and monitoring of the Trust and Academies budgets and to ensure that financial returns are made in accordance with the requirements of the ESFA or other statutory organisation as appropriate.
• To be responsible for all external and internal audit arrangements (financial, governance, personnel)

Procurement

• To ensure effective and compliant procurement delivers value for money, managing supplier relationships and service delivery in the best interests of BLT
• Oversee tenders for service contracts and cost effectiveness

The post holder must:

• Comply with the principles of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in relation to the management of the Trust’s records and information.
