Job Description - Child Support Worker

Are you passionate about providing exceptional care and support to children and young people with a range of needs?

Would you like to be part of a professional, friendly team with an excellent culture?

Major Health-care are seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join our team in County Durham and surrounding areas. You will play a key role in supporting children and young people to lead fulfilling and independent lives. As part of a close-knit team, you'll be assisting individuals with, mental health challenges, and behavioural needs, ensuring they receive the best possible care and assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care and support to children and young people with a variety of needs
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and their families
  • Manage and support individuals in dealing with challenging behaviours in a calm and effective manner
  • Work collaboratively with health-care professionals and multidisciplinary teams
  • Support clients to maintain and improve their independence wherever possible
  • Follow care plans and contribute to their regular review and updates
  • Transporting the young person to appointments and activities
  • Maintaining a daily log, incident reports and all other paperwork as required

What We're Looking For:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent) is essential
  • At least 6-12 months of paid experience in a similar role in the UK is required
  • Experience in managing challenging behaviours is highly desirable
  • A compassionate and patient nature with a genuine desire to help others
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive, positive attitude with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Full UK Driver's License is preferred
  • Enhanced DBS check with child and adults
  • Available for 12-hour shifts days and nights
