Service Care Legal are currently recruiting on behalf of a London Borough Council whoa re seeking a Childcare Legal Officer on behalf of a London Borough Counicl. Please find below further details with regards to this opportunity.

ROLE:                  Childcare Legal Officer
LOCATION:          East London (2 days per week in the office)
RATE:                   £20.00 to £22.00 per hour LTD (DOE
CONTRACT:        3 months with possibility of extension, 36 hours per week, 2 days in the office

Overview: To provide essential legal support in children’s social care, safeguarding, and education. This role involves working closely with legal professionals to deliver legal advice, solutions, and administrative support across various legal disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Legal Support: Assist lawyers in providing legal advice to the Council, Members, and Officers, helping them progress with the Council’s corporate goals.
• Portfolio of Legal Work: Support lawyers and senior lawyers in offering legal expertise across multiple disciplines, delivering high-quality, solution-focused legal services.
• Collaborative Legal Service: Work as part of a shared back-office support service, contributing to the delivery of legal solutions for different organizations and departments within the Council.
• Administrative Assistance: Provide administrative support to the legal team, particularly in children’s and adult’s social care, safeguarding, and education law.
• Legal Expertise in Safeguarding and Social Care: Assist with the preparation and handling of cases within children’s and adult’s social care, focusing on safeguarding issues and education law matters.

Requirements:

• Experience in legal support, ideally within the areas of children’s social care, safeguarding, or education.
• A strong understanding of legal procedures and the ability to work across multiple legal disciplines.
• Proficiency in providing both legal and administrative assistance within a legal office environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and across multiple sites, delivering high-quality legal services.
