About the role

We are seeking a committed Christian with proven experience working directly with children and families in a school or community setting, who is confident in taking ownership of programmes and building trusted relationships across a diverse school community.

This role is hands-on and relational, requiring someone who can independently lead initiatives, engage parents from a range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, and sensitively integrate Christian faith into both pastoral and practical support.

Role Overview

The Children and Families Manager will take lead responsibility for developing and delivering programmes that support children and families connected to All Souls Church of England Primary School.

This includes:

  • Designing and running regular initiatives that address practical, social, and spiritual needs

  • Building consistent, trust-based relationships with children, parents, and school staff

  • Identifying needs within the school community and responding with relevant, structured support

  • Working collaboratively with church and school stakeholders while managing projects independently

  • Tracking engagement and outcomes, and contributing to reporting and funding requirements

The role requires regular presence in both the school and community setting, as well as occasional evening and Saturday work.

    Person Specification

    • Meaningful and impactful hands-on experience working with primary school-aged children and their families (in a school, charity, or community setting) OR as a qualified teacher / social worker

    • Experience managing or delivering programmes or initiatives (not just supporting)

    • Working knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices

    • Excellent communication skills (both orally and in writing), highly organised, keen attention to detail and an ability to build collaborative relationships both within the organisation, and at the school, with children, teachers/staff and parents

    • Strong project management and administration skills, preferably in the charity sector including management of the budgets

    • A committed evangelical Christian, able to clearly articulate personal faith and demonstrate how it informs work with children and families

    • In full agreement with the mission, values, and vision of All Souls Serve the City and the Evangelical Alliance Statement of Faith

    • Comfortable leading or facilitating Bible studies and integrating faith into relational and support contexts

    Reality Check

This role may not be suitable if you are:

    • Looking for a primarily strategic or office-based role rather than hands-on delivery

    • Uncomfortable working in an explicitly Christian environment where faith is actively shared

    Employment Benefits

    • Competitive salary aligned with experience

    • 7.5% employer pension contribution

    • 3 Spiritual Refreshment Days (pro rata)

    • Eye care voucher

    • Season ticket loan

    • Staff lunch provided every Monday

About All Souls Serve the City

All Souls Serve the City (ASSTC) is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) which began in 2021 and is based at All Souls Church. ASSTC brings together in one place a number of long-standing ministries serving those who are vulnerable. Our vision is to see all in London flourish in body and soul. We do this by offering the message and ministry of Jesus, focusing on those who are isolated, overlooked and exploited, due to their stage of life or their circumstances. Our ministries reach out from the All Souls parish, to Westminster and beyond. Each ministry is rooted in our values of love, honour and service.

Demonstrating our love for one another and for the city, we seek to bring gospel hope and biblical truth to those affected by homelessness; women involved in the sex industry including those who are affected by human trafficking, modern slavery or sexual exploitation; children at All Souls Church of England primary school and their families; and seniors. Each ministry is rooted in and connected into the life of the church at Langham Place.

Further information about ASSTC can be found here: asstc.org.uk

The All Souls Church family is diverse as the global body of Christ is diverse and as London is diverse. Applications are welcome from people from ethnic groups which are a minority in the UK.

There is an occupational requirement that the job-holder is a Christian under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.
