Job Description - Commissioning Support Administrator

Commissioning Support Administrator

  • Job Type: Temporary, Full-time
  • Location: Trafford, M32 0TH
  • Duration: 3 months
  • Pay: £16.44 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated Commissioning Support Administrator to join Trafford Council's Older Peoples Team, focusing on Residential and Nursing Care Homes and Homecare Services. Training will be provided, but the role requires specific skills and experience in managing tight deadlines, partnership working, and data analysis.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide support across all aspects of the commissioning cycle, focusing on the quality of care for learning disabilities and mental health.
  • Support partnership coordination, needs assessment, and performance management.
  • Produce operational needs assessments to aid the development of commissioning strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate commissioned services, ensuring value for money and effective service delivery.
  • Undertake micro-commissioning activities related to specific markets, managing associated functions.
  • Identify and resolve gaps in data collection, and research successful service models to support effective commissioning.
  • Work with procurement to support the tendering process and assist in developing service specifications.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality standards, performance, and finance management systems.
  • Handle finance queries related to care packages and provider payments.
  • Conduct quality visits, develop service improvement plans, and support providers in enhancing care quality.
  • Escalate any deficiencies in provider performance and safeguarding issues appropriately.
  • Report provider feedback to aid in commissioning strategy development.
  • Support the development of service user feedback mechanisms and co-production in service design.
  • Develop relationships with a wide range of providers, informing them of strategic service developments.
  • Support market reviews and identify development opportunities.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for social value through the commissioning process.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the Commissioning Leadership Team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working to tight deadlines and across various organisations.
  • Excellent communication, IT, and data analysis skills, with extensive experience in Microsoft Office and database management.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, manage time effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Initiative, solution-focused approach, and sensitivity in dealing with others.
  • Experience in health and social care commissioning, particularly in learning disabilities and mental health, is highly advantageous.
