Locum Committee Services Officer – Local Authority in London – Hybrid – Full Time
Venn Group is working with a respected London local authority in their search for a Committee Services Officer on a locum basis for an initial 3-month contract.

Details:

Job Title: Committee Services Officer

Hourly Rate: Up to £22 umbrella per hour (flexible for the right candidate)

Length of Contract: 3 months initially, with strong potential for extension

Working Pattern: Full-time – 36 hours per week

Location: Local Authority in London

Office Attendance: Once per week preferred – will consider more remote

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality committee administration and support to elected Members and senior officers
• Draft, publish, and distribute agendas, reports, and minutes in line with statutory deadlines
• Attend and minute meetings of committees and sub-committees, ensuring accurate and timely records
• Advise on constitutional and procedural matters during meetings
• Liaise with service departments to ensure accurate reporting and documentation
• Maintain excellent standards of professional conduct and impartiality in all democratic processes

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working within a committee or democratic services team in a local authority
• Strong minute-taking and report-writing skills
• Familiarity with local authority governance procedures and political environments
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet statutory deadlines
• Confident communication and stakeholder management skills
