Job Description - Community Support Worker

Community Support Worker (Children)
  • Job Type: Part-time, Temporary
  • Location: Greater Manchester Area
  • Salary Range: £12.50 - £16.00 per hour

Join our dedicated team as a Community Support Worker, focusing on providing essential support to children and young people within their home environments. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young service users, promoting their independence, and supporting their physical and emotional wellbeing. We are specifically looking for individuals who can work weekend shifts.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Provide attentive care to children and young people, addressing both their physical and emotional needs.
  • Follow detailed care plans tailored to each individual's specific needs.
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Monitor and report any changes in the conditions of children to relevant professionals.
  • Ensure all interactions and activities adhere to safeguarding protocols.
  • Travel between homes in the community, ensuring timely and efficient care delivery.
  • Support daily routines including personal care, meal preparation, and general upkeep of living spaces.
  • Motivate and support service users to engage with the local community and participate in activities that enhance their lives.
  • Assist in managing medical appointments, medication, and behaviour management strategies.
  • Encourage and support the development of independent skills.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 months care-related experience in the UK, preferably with children and young people.
  • Strong awareness of safeguarding issues and protocols related to children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Empathetic and compassionate nature, committed to providing high-quality care.
  • An up-to-date DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service. If you need to apply for a new DBS, we can support you with this.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Suitability to work with children and young people in a care setting.
