  • Level 1 City & Guilds Construction Teacher
    • KS3/KS4
    • Medical Pupil Alternative Provision
    • Immediate Start
    • Full-time (8.30am - 4.00pm)
    • Paid to scale
    • Islington/North London

We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Construction Teacher to deliver Level 1 City & Guilds Construction to students in a small Pupil Referral Unit medical provision in Islington, North London.

The Role

In this role, you will be teaching Level 1 City & Guilds Construction to KS3/KS4 students aged 11–16 who are unable to attend mainstream school due to medical, mental health, or emotional wellbeing needs.

This is an outreach-based role, meaning you will deliver lessons within:
• A small school site
• A hospital classroom
• Home or community-based settings

Many pupils will be working below expected levels, so lessons must be tailored to their individual needs. You will need to be approachable, patient, and able to build positive relationships with students. You will work closely with a wider team of staff and external professionals to support young people with emotional and behavioural challenges.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching Level 1 City & Guilds Construction
    • Experience working with students with mental health needs, SEN, or in alternative provision
    • A calm, resilient, and supportive approach to teaching

The Provision

This specialist medical provision is part of a wider PRU in Islington and operates across three main sites:
• A school-based provision within the PRU
• A hospital-based classroom
• A home-education/outreach service

The provision supports pupils with a wide range of medical needs, including emotional-based school avoidance, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, and other challenges. Many students also have additional diagnoses such as ASC, ADHD, and other SEN needs.

Led by a dedicated and compassionate team, the provision works closely with families and professionals to ensure students receive a personalised, nurturing education that supports their recovery and future success.

Compliance Requirements

To be considered for this role, all candidates must:
• Hold or be willing to apply for a valid enhanced DBS check
Confirm the right to work and reside in the UK
• Provide two professional references, including one from your most recent employer

If you are a Construction Teacher passionate about making a difference in alternative education, we would love to hear from you.
