Job Description - Contract Manager - Maternity Cover

Maternity Cover – Contracts Manager (12‑14 months)



Location: Dartford, UK
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00


Start date: March/April (exact date to be confirmed)
Contract length: 12 – 14 months (maternity cover)

Role Summary


The Contracts Manager will take full operational, technical and financial ownership of a portfolio of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) contracts valued between £800 k and £1 M. The post holder will ensure service delivery meets Artic’s standards, client expectations and contractual KPIs while maintaining health & safety compliance.



Key Responsibilities



  • Contract Delivery – Oversee day‑to‑day execution of assigned contracts, ensuring all works are performed to the required technical standard and on schedule.

  • Health & Safety – Work closely with the H&S team to guarantee safe delivery of all site activities, promptly escalating any incidents or concerns.

  • Financial Management – Own the contract P&L, monitor budgets, control expenditure and produce regular financial reports.

  • Documentation & Compliance – Maintain up‑to‑date site records, compliance data and CAFM information in line with company procedures.

  • Team Coordination – Direct and support staff (direct or indirect) involved in service delivery, raising issues to Department Management when required.

  • Process Improvement – Develop and refine operating procedures, policies and best‑practice guidelines for the contracts under your care.

  • Client Relationship Management – Build and sustain strong client relationships, driving contract retention and identifying new business opportunities.

  • Quoting & Costing – Prepare detailed quotations for plant/services, providing full scope and cost breakdowns (CAF​M training provided).

  • Quality Assurance – Conduct regular QA inspections of work completed, record findings and implement corrective actions.

  • Reporting & Review – Produce weekly CAFM reports, self‑audit performance against company parameters and attend monthly contract review meetings.

  • Technical & Administrative Support – Provide expert technical advice and admin assistance to clients and internal Artic staff.



Required Skills & Experience



  • Proven ability to estimate HVAC work; complex quotes will be supported by Department Management.

  • Demonstrated experience managing P&L for multiple service contracts.

  • Strong leadership qualities with a focus on fostering a collaborative work environment.

  • Good understanding of basic mechanical concepts and the ability to communicate technical information clearly.

  • Excellent organisational, time‑management and multi‑tasking abilities.

  • High attention to detail and a results‑driven work ethic.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and CAFM systems (training will be provided).

  • Experience in a challenging Service & Maintenance environment (field and/or office).

  • Commercially astute, self‑starting and able to meet or exceed performance targets.

  • Consistent track record of due diligence and adherence to standards.

  • Flexibility to adapt to a variety of contract demands and deliver client‑focused solutions.

  • Industry or HVAC qualifications are advantageous but not essential.



Health & Safety


All staff must fulfil their legal duty to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions. You will be required to follow all Artic health‑and‑safety guidance, procedures and instructions.
