Rate: £50-£60 per hour - Negotiable DOE

Spencer Clarke Group are working directly with a London Borough Council who are seeking an experienced Contracts Lawyer to join their Legal Services team and provide expert advice on a wide range of commercial, procurement, and governance matters. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of complex contractual matters, support key council initiatives, and help shape and implement the council's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver legal advice and representation on all aspects of contracts and public procurement law.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, deeds, agreements, and statutory notices.
• Support council departments with major projects, governance, and policy development.
• Promote continuous improvement in service delivery and maintain high standards of client care.

Key Requirements

• A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives with at least 3 years' post-qualification experience.
• Strong knowledge of contracts, procurement, local government law, and experience advising on complex and high-value legal matters.
• A sound understanding of public sector procurement regulations and commercial contracts
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills as well as the ability to analyse complex legal issues and deliver practical solutions.
