As a Cook in a care home, you’ll play a vital role in supporting residents’ health and wellbeing by preparing fresh, nutritious meals that meet a variety of dietary needs. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and cooking meals for residents, including modified diets (e.g. pureed, diabetic, low-sodium)

• Ensuring high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness at all times

• Managing stock levels and ordering supplies as needed

• Working with care staff to understand individual dietary requirements

• Creating a welcoming, respectful kitchen environment for residents and staff

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

• Proven experience as a cook, ideally in a care home, hospital, or similar environment

• Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum preferred)

• An understanding of dietary needs for older adults and vulnerable individuals

• Ability to work independently and maintain kitchen standards without supervision

• Compassion, patience, and a respectful approach to residents’ dignity and preferences

This role offers flexibility with full-time and part-time hours available. Shifts are typically Monday to Sunday, on a rota, with some weekend work required. This is an ongoing contract with strong potential for long-term placement.
