Rate: £23 per hour
Hours: 36 hours per week

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

About the Role:
Haringey Council is seeking an experienced Council Tax Adviser to join their Revenue & Benefits team on a temporary basis. This role focuses on the recovery of unpaid Council Tax using a variety of enforcement methods.

You'll work closely with internal departments and external partners to manage recovery cases, resolve liability disputes, and support vulnerable residents. This is a great opportunity to bring your specialist recovery knowledge to a dedicated local authority team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Recover unpaid Council Tax via Enforcement Agents, Attachments, Charging Orders, and Insolvency

• Investigate liability disputes and resolve issues relating to recovery action

• Respond to correspondence, including complaints and member enquiries, within set deadlines

• Handle incoming contacts via phone, email, and post

• Negotiate and agree sustainable payment arrangements with customers

• Identify and support vulnerable or struggling customers

• Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Revenues environment (preferably recovery)

• Proficient in NEC and I@W processing systems

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage a busy workload

• Experience responding to councillor/member enquiries and formal complaints

• A customer-focused approach with a strong understanding of council procedures
