Council Tax Assessment Officer

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Hourly Rate: £11.59
Working Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Contract Duration: Until 13/10/2025

We are seeking an experienced Council Tax Assessment Officer to support the delivery of accurate billing and account management within a busy local authority team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update Council Tax accounts

• Assess and apply discounts, exemptions, and reliefs in line with legislation

• Ensure accuracy and compliance in billing procedures

• Provide excellent customer service to residents and stakeholders

• Use relevant systems to input and maintain data

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience in Council Tax assessment and maintenance

• Strong working knowledge of Academy and Enterprise systems

• Sound understanding of current Council Tax legislation

• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• High attention to detail and ability to manage workload effectively
