Job Description - Counter Fraud Analyst

Job Title: Counter Fraud Intelligence Officer
Contract Length: 6-month contract (26 weeks) with potential for extension
Hours: 36 hours per week
Pay Rate: £22 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Redbridge Council (Hybrid working may be considered)

Redbridge Council is looking for an experienced Counter Fraud Intelligence Officer to join its proactive and dedicated team on a 6-month contract, with strong potential for extension. This is a key role in helping to protect public funds by identifying, assessing, and responding to fraud risks using intelligence-led methods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, analyse, and evaluate intelligence related to suspected fraud and economic crime.

  • Produce timely and accurate intelligence reports and risk assessments to support investigations and prevention strategies.

  • Liaise with internal departments, external agencies, and law enforcement to share intelligence and support joint operations.

  • Monitor fraud trends, emerging threats, and typologies to inform the Council's counter-fraud approach.

  • Maintain accurate and secure records in compliance with legal and data protection standards.

Requirements:
  • Experience in a counter fraud or intelligence role, preferably within local government or the wider public sector.

  • Strong research, analytical, and reporting skills.

  • Understanding of relevant legislation, including the Fraud Act, Data Protection Act, CPIA, and RIPA.

  • Familiarity with intelligence tools and systems such as iBase or Analyst's Notebook is desirable.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
