£100-110 per day dependant on experience

Are you passionate about supporting children, recognising individual qualities and strengths, and aspiring to attain excellence in learning?

We are looking for Cover Supervisors to supervise classes in the absence of the subject teacher or mentor. The job is not a teaching role but will require good classroom management skills as well as a confident personality, excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt quickly to a varied and constantly changing routine.

We are looking for someone who:

• Relishes the challenge of working with young people
• Has a good standard of basic education
• Previous experience of working with young people in a similar environment
• The ability to take charge of a classroom and give clear instructions and guidance to students

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes and groups of pupils on occasion, during the short-term absence of teachers.
• Supervise work that has been set in accordance with school policy.
• Managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment.
• Deal with any questions from pupils about process and procedures.
• Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures.
• Collect any completed work after the lesson and return it to the class teacher.

Requirements

• Previous experience of working with young people ideally in a school environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively to students and members of staff; covering classes from Year 7 to Year 11 with varying ranges of ability.
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Empathic and sensitive to student’s needs.
• Ability to take sole charge of a class of students in an orderly and controlled manner.
• Ability to safely manage classroom activities set by the class teacher.
• Must have the right to work in the UK
• Must be able to provide a minimum of two professional references
• Must hold an enhanced DBS Registered on the update service or be willing to process one
