Cover Supervisor PE Department

• Location: Littlehampton
• Work Pattern: 35 hours per week, term-time only plus INSET days
• Salary: Grade E (5 spine points)

Join our team as a Cover Supervisor with a focus on Physical Education. This role is crucial in maintaining the continuity of education for students during short-term absences of teaching staff. You will be responsible for supervising students and ensuring they undertake the work set by the teacher while maintaining good standards of behaviour.

• Supervise pupils in undertaking the work set by a teacher.
• Manage pupil behaviour to ensure a constructive environment.
• Respond to pupil questions about process and procedures.
• Handle immediate problems or emergencies in line with the academy’s policies.
• Take responsibility for the safeguarding and health and safety of pupils while in class.
• Collect completed work and pass it to the appropriate teacher.
• Report on pupil behaviour and any problems arising using the academy’s agreed procedures.
• Provide support to colleagues when not deployed in mainstream lessons, including administrative support.
• Supervise after-school activities such as detentions and pupil departures from the site.

• 5+ GCSEs including English and Maths (Essential).
• Experience working with young people (Desirable).
• Experience in a secondary school setting (Desirable).
• Knowledge of computer applications like sms.net, Go4S, and Google Docs, or willingness to learn (Desirable).
• Ability to engage and motivate young people (Essential).
• Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills (Essential).
• Ability to work under pressure (Essential).
