Job Description - Credit Controller

I’m working with a Housing Association currently going through a period of positive transformation and merger. They’re strengthening their finance function and now need an experienced Credit Controller to join on an initial 6 month contract, with a strong chance of extension or moving into a permanent role as the organisation grows.

The Role

This is a hands-on credit control role where you’ll take ownership of monitoring and enforcing processes to maximise income and reduce arrears. With the business in transition, there’s a big opportunity here to make your mark - helping to shape how things are done and embedding strong practices for the future.

You’ll be working with tenants, appointees, local authorities, and corporate partners, chasing debt, resolving disputes, and ensuring the flow of income remains consistent during a critical time for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full credit control process, keeping arrears to a minimum.
  • Chase outstanding payments from tenants, appointees, local authorities, and partners.
  • Investigate historic arrears and resolve disputes.
  • Support accurate and timely invoicing with the finance team.
  • Report on KPIs and collection performance.
  • Act as a professional representative when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and organisational policies.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years’ credit control experience with a proven record of results.
  • Strong communicator, confident in chasing debt and adapting tone to different stakeholders.
  • Skilled with SAGE and Microsoft Office (especially Excel & Access).
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to pull and present data.
  • Proactive, resilient, and able to work under pressure to targets.
  • Experience in housing or not-for-profit is helpful but not essential.

Benefits

  • £30,000 - £35,000 (DEO)
  • Hybrid Working (3 days office, 2 days work from home)
  • Free Parking
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
