• Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (6 months)
• Pay Rate: £20.00 - £23.00 per hour (PAYE)

Bury Council are looking for an experienced Decorator with a background in social housing to join our team. This role involves working mainly in void properties, carrying out a wide range of painting, decorating, and minor repair tasks. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance and refurbishment works across council homes and public buildings.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Undertake all painting, decorating, and relevant multi-skilled works to buildings managed or worked on by Bury Council.
• Operate and maintain all issued plant and equipment according to safety requirements and guidelines.
• Use IT systems (PDA’s or iPad) effectively to update documentation in real time.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments of tenant-reported repairs and communicate effectively with planners.
• Ensure the responsible use of vehicles provided, maintaining them in a clean and secure state.
• Adhere to Bury Council’s Health and Safety Policies, performing risk assessments and following safe working practices.
• Manage own time efficiently to ensure full availability during contracted working hours and adherence to scheduled appointments.
• Participate in the out-of-hours call service rota as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Decorator, specifically within social housing.
• Skilled in all aspects of painting, decorating, and conducting minor repairs.
• Ability to operate various IT systems and maintain accurate records.
• Full UK Driving License.
• Strong commitment to safety protocols and customer care.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work within a team.
