Deputy Director of Legal Services & DMO

Service Care Legal are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Director of Legal Services to join a London Borough Council on a contract basis. As a key member of the Law and Governance Management Team, you will play a pivotal part in leading the delivery of high-quality legal services that meet the evolving needs of the council and the community we serve.

ROLE: Deputy Director of Legal Services and DMO
CONTRACT: 3 months (with potential for extension), 36 hours per week
RATE: £446.99 per day umbrella / £396.94 pd PAYE inc. holiday pay / £354.17pd PAYE exc. holiday pay
LOCATION: North London

Please note that this opportunity would require office attendance at least 2 days per week.

The Role

As Deputy Director, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of our Legal Services, ensuring that we are effective, efficient, and aligned with the council's requirements. Your leadership and vision will be instrumental in shaping the future of our service, and you will be expected to:

• Proactively lead, manage, and organize the workflows of the service to achieve exceptional results
• Provide operational and strategic vision, strong leadership, and support to the team
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Ensure the service is delivered in a cost-effective and efficient manner
• Raise the profile of Islington Council Legal Services through collaborative working, professional networking, and innovative solutions
• Act as the Deputy Monitoring Officer for the Council

The Person

• A qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with extensive PQE within the public sector
• Experience of working within a leadership capacity within a legal services
• A proven track-record of delivering cost saving across a public sector legal department
