You will play a key role in enabling residents with disabilities to live safely and independently in their homes by assessing, designing, and delivering suitable adaptations in partnership with Occupational Therapists and contractors. Location: Colchester / Hybrid / Site-based across local authority area Contract: Permanent Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (DOE) Key Responsibilities • Carry out detailed home surveys to assess suitability for adaptations • Work closely with Occupational Therapists (OTs) to determine client requirements • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and schedules of work • Produce accurate cost estimates and feasibility assessments • Manage DFG cases from initial assessment through to completion • Oversee contractors and ensure works are delivered to specification • Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and progress monitoring • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations (Part M) and health & safety standards • Liaise with residents, families, contractors, and council officers • Manage variations, valuations, and project documentation Skills & Experience Required • Experience in building surveying, architecture, or construction management • Strong knowledge of domestic construction and accessibility standards • Understanding of Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) processes (preferred but not essential) • Ability to produce and interpret technical drawings (AutoCAD desirable) • Experience managing contractors and site works • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site visits What We Offer • Flexible / hybrid working arrangements • Varied and meaningful project work supporting independent living • Supportive multidisciplinary team (including OTs and housing officers) • Ongoing training and development opportunities • Opportunity to make a direct impact on vulnerable residents’ quality of life Interested?
