Job Description - Digger Driver

EXPERIENCED DIGGER DRIVER REQUIRED - CENTRAL LONDON£220-280 per day (£18-23 per hour)
Pertemps is recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor for an experienced Digger Driver to work on a specialist project in Central London.
PROJECT DETAILS

Duration: 10-day project starting 23rd June 2025
Location: Bermondsey, London - near Underground station
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Equipment: Under 10 tons digger operation

PROJECT SCOPE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIESInfrastructure Replacement & Barrier Installation Project
This specialist project involves the complete replacement of existing infrastructure and installation of new security barriers at a Central London site.

Primary Tasks:

Infrastructure Replacement: Complete removal of existing structures and foundations
Foundation Work: Excavation and removal of old concrete foundations, preparation for new reinforced concrete pad construction
Barrier Installation: Installation of new security barriers and associated groundworks
Precision Excavation: Careful trenching and excavation work around existing utilities
Site Preparation: Ground preparation and leveling for new installations

Challenging Working Conditions:

Working in subsidence-affected ground requiring careful excavation techniques
Operating in close proximity to live HV cables with strict safety protocols
London area constraints including limited access and tight working spaces
Coordination with utilities and other trades on active site

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTSCertifications Required:

Valid CPCS/NPORS Digger Ticket (Under 10 tons)
NRSWA StreetWorks certification
CSCS/CPCS Civils Training card

Mandatory Health & Safety Certificates:

Asbestos Awareness
Environmental Awareness
First Aid
Manual Handling
Abrasive Wheels
Basic Fire Safety Awareness
Locate Utility Services

EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Infrastructure & Barrier Expertise: Proven experience in infrastructure replacement projects and security barrier installations
Foundation Specialists: Demonstrated skills in concrete foundation removal and construction
Precision Excavation: Experience working around live utilities and in restricted access areas
Challenging Ground Conditions: Background working in subsidence-affected areas and unstable ground
Urban Construction: Experience with London construction constraints and regulations
Multi-Trade Coordination: Ability to work alongside other contractors and utility companies
