Are you an experienced Design & Technology Technician seeking a new and rewarding role in a forward-thinking secondary school?

Do you have the technical skills, organisational ability, and passion to support high-quality DT education for young learners?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Ruislip that is looking for a dedicated Design & Technology Technician to join their DT department ASAP. This is a full-time, long-term role (Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm), perfect for someone with hands-on workshop experience and a commitment to supporting learning in a creative and practical environment.

About the Role:

As a DT Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, setting up, and maintaining materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons across various areas of DT (e.g. resistant materials, product design, electronics, and graphics).

  • Supporting teachers during lessons, demonstrating techniques, and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.

  • Maintaining and servicing machinery and tools, managing stock levels, and ensuring a clean, safe working environment.

  • Assisting in the development of teaching aids and classroom displays.

  • Supporting students during practical tasks, under the direction and supervision of the class teacher.

  • Ensuring all safety checks, COSHH requirements, and risk assessments are up to date and adhered to.

What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience as a DT Technician or a background in a similar workshop-based role (e.g. carpentry, engineering, fabrication) OR a qualification in design, engineering, or a related field.

  • Sound knowledge of tools, machinery, and materials used in a secondary DT setting.

  • A strong understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop or school environment.

  • Organised, reliable, and proactive with good communication skills.

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

What We Offer:
  • A supportive and welcoming secondary school in Ruislip with excellent facilities.

  • A competitive daily rate, based on experience.

  • Long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent.

  • On-the-job training and ongoing professional development.

  • Easy access via public transport and on-site parking available.

If you're a skilled and enthusiastic DT Technician ready to make a positive impact in a thriving school community, we'd love to hear from you!
