English Lecturer - Hornchurch, East London

Our client, a respected further education provider in East London, is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Lecturer to join their team on a temporary ongoing basis from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to support learners in developing essential literacy and communication skills for academic, professional, and personal success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality teaching of English Language and/or Literature to learners aged 16+ (including GCSE and Functional Skills)
• Plan and prepare lessons in line with curriculum and awarding body standards
• Assess learner progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
• Adapt resources and teaching strategies to support a range of abilities and learning needs
• Support students in developing confidence, critical thinking, and analytical skills
• Track and monitor attendance, engagement, and achievement
• Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes
• Provide academic and pastoral support to ensure learners stay on track
• Create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment that motivates students

Essential Requirements:

• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
• A degree in English or a closely related subject
• Experience teaching GCSE English and/or Functional Skills within a post-16 or FE setting
• Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills
• Commitment to inclusive teaching and student development
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Enhanced DBS clearance is essential for this role
