English teacher - English Instructor - Trainee English teacher - Potters Bar, Hertfordshire

Are you an experienced English Teacher looking for a new opportunity? Perhaps you've covered English before on supply and are looking for an ongoing post to cover the inconsistency of supply?

Tradewind are working alongside a well-run Secondary School in Potters Bar for an English Teacher (or instructor / trainee) to join their team and teach English to pupils in Years 7-11 on a long term basis. This role provides the chance to inspire, support and ultimately raise teaching standards across the department and is available from September or from October half term and is expected to run the full 2025/26 Academic year. The school is part of a newly formed MAT and offers funded routes into teaching training and permanent contracts for those who excel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead English lessons for pupils in years 7-11 (Key Stages 3 and 4)

• Work withing a dedicated and supportive team of 4 teachers

• For trainee's / instructors benefit from a reduced workload and timetable along with mentorship.

• For experienced teachers - competitive pay scales from day 1, supportive HOD with scope for a permanent contract, CPD and much more

• Build and Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

• Ensure the science department meets academic standards and targets

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Engaging and professional personality with a Strong knowledge of the English curriculum able to support with lessons at GCSE stage including year 11

• Experience of teaching English, Tuition or a recent degree within English or Creative Writing

• Able to demonstrate pupil management and a professional and upbeat attitude. The school are also looking for skills and the ability to inspire pupils from all backgrounds and ability levels

• Passion for teaching and the commitment to student success

• Experience within curriculum development and assessment writing is an advantage

• Willingness to be an active and positive member of the whole school community is advantageous
