Environmental Health Officer / Public Protection Food Safety Practitioner

Temp 6 months - £35.18 per hour - London

Local Authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer / Public Protection Food Safety Practitioner to support their Food Safety team at their West London offices.

This is a temporary position to start ASAP for an initial 6-month period and will pay £35.18 per hour.

The main responsibilities of the Environmental Health Officer will be to protect the health, safety and welfare of residents, businesses, visitors and employees in the borough; through the enforcement of food hygiene, food standards, infectious diseases and health and safety standards in commercial premises and work activities. To protect the health of consumers through the enforcement of food hygiene and food standards in high, low risk and approved premises, including allergens in commercial premises.

The ideal Environmental Health Officer will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:

• Degree educated in Environmental Health or similar subject
• EHRB Registered
• Investigate food poisoning outbreaks. Participate where required as a member of an outbreak control team.
• Carryout food/food standards inspections at borough events.
• Enforcement and regulation of allocated food premises. Competency as defined by the FSA Code of Practice.
• Successfully leads investigations and/or projects at a National and/or Regional level.
• Drafting of projects and funded bids, within agreed deadlines and according to specification.
• Support development of policy and procedures.
