Job Description - Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist

The Greater London Authority are looking to recruit an EDI Specialist on an interim 12-month basis to support the delivery of the GLA’s workforce equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) strategies. This role is crucial in contributing to the development and implementation of policies, initiatives, and interventions that position the GLA as a genuinely inclusive employer, reflecting the diversity of London at all levels.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the People Function and the wider workforce to provide expert advice on embedding EDI into recruitment, employee engagement, learning and development, and career progression.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of the GLA’s workforce EDI strategy, and coordinate delivery of the corporate EDI action plan.
  • Interpret and scrutinise workforce data to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyse trends, assess the impact of EDI initiatives, and use insights to support evidence-based decision-making and drive inclusive practice across the organisation.
  • Plan, design, and deliver or commission interventions focused on creating an inclusive workplace, using evidence-based tools, frameworks, and techniques to support change and improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Significant experience initiating and delivering cultural change and/or organisational development programmes aimed at creating an engaging and inclusive workplace.
  • In-depth understanding of workforce diversity and inclusion at work: the challenges, current best practice, and measures.
  • Ability to articulate clearly the benefits of a diverse workforce, influence and deliver successful outcomes in improving diversity and inclusion in the workplace, preferably in a complex public sector environment.
  • Ability to analyse complex data and present it in an understandable way.
