Summary
This is a 3\-4 month contract opportunity with a local authority, supporting the Strategic Head of Property Services at the Isle of Wight Council. The role is crucial in delivering a professional, efficient, and cost\-effective estates and property management function. It ensures the councilâs land and property assets are effectively utilised, managed according to professional standards, and maintained to support operational, commercial, and community needs across a diverse and high\-profile property portfolio.
Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of landlord and tenant matters, including rent reviews, lease renewals, assignments, subletting requests, and general tenancy queries.
Oversee rental income processes, ensuring accurate invoicing of rents and service charges, and assist with the recovery of outstanding payments.
Provide management of the councilâs rented\-out property portfolio, ensuring tenants receive appropriate support and that agreements are complied with.
Essential Experience Required
Substantial experience in property management, with direct liaison with landlords, tenants, and tenant groups.
Strong background across general practice property functions, including rent reviews, lease renewals, lettings, service charge management, assignments, and subletting.
Essential Qualifications Required
Professional qualification such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or working toward membership.
Vocational qualifications in property, real estate, or estates management.

Working hours: 37 hours per week
Location: County Hall, High Street, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 1UD, United Kingdom
Flexibility in working arrangements, with the possibility of remote work while maintaining productivity and collaboration. Availability to be on the Island when necessary is essential.
Being Island\-based would be an advantage.
The contract is expected to last at least four months, with the possibility of extension depending on an upcoming service review.
