Position: General Handyperson / Facilities Assistant

Location: Stevenage

£12.21 per hour

Hours: 2pm - 10pm

Role Overview:

As our General Handyperson, you will play a crucial role in keeping our school in excellent condition. You will be responsible for a variety of maintenance tasks and repairs, ensuring that the school's facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is proactive, enjoys hands-on work, and takes pride in maintaining a positive environment for children and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, painting, and carpentry.
• Conduct regular inspections of school facilities to identify and address maintenance issues.
• Repair and maintain school equipment and furniture as needed.
• Assist with setting up and taking down equipment for school events and activities.
• Ensure the school grounds are kept clean and tidy, including basic gardening and landscaping tasks and general cleaning/ cleaner duties.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and address them efficiently.
• Monitor and maintain stock levels of maintenance supplies and tools.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure a safe environment for all.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Proven experience in general maintenance, handywork, or a similar role.
• Basic skills in plumbing, carpentry and painting.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Flexibility to handle unexpected tasks and emergencies.
• A positive attitude and commitment to creating a safe, supportive school environment.
