Job Description - Facilities Manager

A Facilities Office Manager oversees the smooth operation of workplace environments by managing both the physical infrastructure (hard services like maintenance, security, and utilities) and the people-focused aspects (soft services like reception, cleaning, and office coordination). This role requires a balance of technical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills to ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming workspace for all staff and visitors.

It serves a diverse community across towns including Reigate, Redhill, Horley, and Banstead, delivering a wide range of public services such as planning, housing, waste management, and community development

Description

  • Maintain and manage council buildings, ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
  • Oversee contractors and service providers for both technical (hard) and support (soft) services.
  • Manage front-of-house operations, cleaning, and office logistics to support a professional environment.
  • Coordinate space planning, office moves, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Lead facilities staff, manage budgets, and liaise with internal teams to ensure efficient service delivery.

Profile

The ideal candidate will be a proactive and organised facilities professional with experience managing both hard and soft services in a public sector or multi-site environment.
