About the Service
The Child and Family Help Team is an integral part of the Social Care and Early Help Directorate, delivering targeted early help and specialist interventions to children, young people, and families. The team works closely with a range of partners and agencies with the objective of preventing escalation to more serious concerns and avoiding unnecessary referrals into Child Protection services. Practitioners operate under the guidance of a qualified social worker and are based in one of our main offices, youth centres, or family hubs.

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Family Help Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team. This role requires the delivery of high-quality interventions in line with Achieving for Children's assessment, planning, and intervention framework, as well as adherence to London Safeguarding Procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive whole-family assessments

  • Developing SMART intervention plans collaboratively with children, young people, and families

  • Delivering targeted support within early help and statutory frameworks

  • Maintaining professional boundaries and setting realistic goals

  • Recording all interventions with accuracy on case management systems

  • Responding to significant events in a timely and proportionate manner

  • Escalating concerns to management appropriately while continuing to support families throughout their journey

  • Leading and coordinating multi-agency partnerships (Team Around the Child) to secure positive outcomes

About You
The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children, young people, and families in a similar context

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding practices and statutory responsibilities

  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills

  • The ability to remain calm, focused, and empathetic in challenging situations

  • A commitment to child-centred practice and promoting the well-being of service users

What We Offer

  • A supportive and collaborative working environment

  • Opportunities for continuous professional development

  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of families within the community

  • Flexible working arrangements where applicable

Join Achieving for Children and help shape a brighter future for children, young people, and families through early, effective, and compassionate support.
