Job Description - Finance Administrator

Financial Administrator
  • Job Type: Temporary, Full-time
  • Location: Bolton, BL1 1RU
  • Duration: 3 months
  • Pay: £13.34 per hour (PAYE)
  • Working Hours: 9am till 5pm (Office Based)

We are seeking a Financial Administrator to join the Adult Services Department at Bolton Council. This role involves ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions and providing essential support in maintaining relationships with care providers.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage and maintain children’s fostering payments, including residence, special guardianship, and adoption allowances, ensuring payments are made correctly and promptly.
  • Coordinate and collate weekly returns from care providers, processing them efficiently to enable accurate invoicing to service users.
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of payments to care providers, including updating relevant records.
  • Oversee the replenishment of the team petty cash float and maintain all relevant records.
  • Arrange for secure delivery of cash to various Council premises and resolve any issues with the security provider and the bank regarding collections and deliveries.
  • Handle queries from service users regarding charges for services provided by the Council.
  • Manage procurement and travel arrangements for staff within the department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in financial administration, preferably within a public sector or similar setting.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of dealing with queries from service users and coordinating with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
