Finance Analyst

Looking for a role where your analysis drives meaningful decisions? As a Finance Analyst in this large public sector organisation, you’ll be part of a collaborative and purpose-led team that values insight, rigour and public impact. Over the course of this four-month temp role, you'll play a key role in providing both strategic and operational financial support – influencing everything from service planning to risk evaluation and long-term forecasting.
This is a high-impact role offering excellent exposure across departments. You'll help produce performance metrics, build models, benchmark data, and support budget planning in line with statutory requirements. It’s a great opportunity to sharpen your skills in a complex, evolving environment – all while working with purpose and supporting your local community.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for:

• Providing strategic and operational financial analysis to inform key decisions
• Supporting Finance Business Partners with performance analysis and KPIs
• Researching and benchmarking financial data across services and the wider sector
• Assessing financial risk and opportunity, communicating findings clearly to stakeholders
• Supporting statutory reporting and budget monitoring in line with requirements
• Assisting in the development of business models, investment appraisals and forecasts

What you will need:

• Previous experience in a similar role, such as Finance Analyst / Analytical Accountant / Financial Reporting Accountant / Finance Manager
• To be AAT qualified (or equivalent)
• Previous experience in the public sector or a large finance function
• Solid Excel and data analysis skills – confidence building models and KPIs
• A natural curiosity, collaborative mindset and ability to turn numbers into meaningful insight
